All equipment must also comply with the specifications and installation instructions
The requirements, procedures and checklists for carrying out initial and periodic electrical and instrumentation inspections are indicated in ABNT NBR IEC 60079. In addition, all equipment must also comply with the specifications and installation instructions prepared by the respective manufacturers.
According to ABNT NBR IEC 60079-17, inspections can be carried out with three different levels of requirements and detail:
– Visual inspection: inspection that identifies, without the use of access equipment or tools, defects that are visually evident, such as, for example, the absence of screws.
– Accurate inspection: inspection that encompasses the aspects covered by the visual inspection and, in addition, identifies defects such as loose screws, which are only detectable with the aid of access equipment, such as stairs.
– Detailed inspection: inspection that encompasses the aspects covered by the accurate inspection and, additionally, identifies defects such as loose terminals, which are only detected with openings in the casing.
